Introducing... Stevie Zee
I’m 36 I started training at Gold’s gym (Clackamas in Dec of 92 that’s where I first met Dave) I joined the gym because I was a year out of high school and, my life was not working. All of my Friends were either moving away for college or had full time job’s. I tried going to Community College with some of my friends but, I flunked out. I didn’t understand why my friends were taking tough classes are Senior year until I tried Community college and laked the study skills and discipline school really takes. I tried to find a job because my friends were working but, when I couldn’t find one. I started getting really depressed. It was the first time in my life I felt retarded because it was the first time in my life I wasn’t doing exactly what my friends were doing. I started blaming my Cerebral Palsy.
I joined Golds because I had WAY too much time on my hands and, “I thought” if I got in really good shape. People wouldn’t look at me as retarded anymore.(Even though I was the only one looking at myself as a retard) I know now, know one can make me feel like a retard unless I allow them to.
I met Dave he started helping me on his free time. We started hanging out a lot during the day(because he was a loser to and, had know life) I copied everything he did. Ate what he ate. I watched him compete year after year. I never felt comfortable enough about my physique to compete. I keeped telling myself “next year I’ll compete” My problem was my muscle’s were so, tight from training and NEVER stretching. I didn’t look like I workout at all.
In November of 99 I finally got sick of Oregon and the rain (and Dave) I packed up my car and drove down to LA to pursue Stand up Comedy. I lived on my friends couch eventually got my own place in Hollywood. I trained during the day and pursued open mics at night.
Dave moved down here a year after I did to run a gym in Downey Ca. Called Imperial Fitness. I was driving down there to work for him during the day and, chase open mics at night. After about a year he ran that place into the ground. Anyways the gym shut down. He moved up to Hollywood with me to share a one bedroom apartment so, he could start a Personal training Business at Gold’s in Hollywood . He met a client. Neither of us can remember his name but, he worked for a company called Metronic’s. They are the ones that make the pump. They hooked me up with my Doctor David Fish over at the UCLA Medical Center. .
Anyways I got the pump because in theory the pump could take all of the Spacity out of my muscle’s so, I could stand up straight. My first concern was I would never do a show let alone take my shirt off in public again with a big “Hockey puck” sticking out of me.
I got the “puck” implanted in me June of 03 I think. I started stretching everyday and. started focusing on my body posture. We had the pump turned up so, high that my body was so relaxed that I was walking worse for the first year. I could start to stand up straight but, the core of my body was not strong enough to support me. Two years after I got the puck my body really started relaxing. I started standing straighter. I was able to pull my shoulders back and, pull my chest out all of a sudden my thirteen years of bodybuilding stated to show. I was able to diet down and, did the LA in July of 06.
